I’m Julie Kranitz-Andrade. I have a Bachelor of commerce from McGill University and an alphabet soup of designations. I’ve been a financial planner/investment advisor for over 32 years. Nevertheless; when my second son was born and I was mistakenly told I had Lymphoma, I realized that all of the planning didn’t work. I was lucky I didn’t have cancer, but I had very little access to cash for treatments since all of my money was tied up in my retirement account and house. I’d have to qualify for the money in my house (which I couldn’t do if I wasn’t healthy and couldn’t work much since banks lend to those who don’t need money) and taking money from my retirement plan had huge tax penalties of 50%(if I was American I couldn’t access it at all). Who cares what rate of return I made on my money if I couldn’t get to it when I needed it. At that point I was determined to find a better way.
Now it’s my mission to help families to avoid these commonly taught financial mistakes so that they can have more success with less risk, while having access to their money.
